Painting the Wardens of Pelargir

When I bought my Last Alliance box sets(2) I ended up with rather a number of numenorian warriors. However, I never planned to collect a numenorian army, and therefore I decided to repaint my models in order to represent the warriors from a Gondorian fiefdom during the last years of the 3rd age. I decided to paint them as the Wardens of Pelargir since games workshop had said the livery of the Wardens of Pelargir had not changed since the times of the Kings. I decided to give my wardens blue and grey colours to reflect the maritime nature of the port city of Pelargir:

you will need:
Chaos black
Dwarf flesh
Mithril silver
Regal blue
Shadow grey
Codex grey
Dark flesh
Shining gold
Skull white

First paint the model in chaos black:


paint the face with dwarf flesh:


Paint the armour and sword with mithril silver:



next, paint the underclothes regal blue:



The top clothes were painted with shadow grey:


The Cloak and borders of the armour were painted codex grey:



The gloves and scabbard were painted with dark flesh:


The armour was painted with a thin layer of mithril silver:


The shield was then placed and painted regal blue:


The pattern on the shield was painted, and so were the gold parts of the model:


Finally, the cloak was drybrushed with skull white:
